I had a seriously damaging experience with John Marshall and his firm. I hired them based on John's personal assurances that he would contact the prosecutor directly and work to get my case dismissed and expunged. That never happened. In fact, he never contacted the prosecutor at all—and instead, my case was dragged out for over five months with almost no progress.
Meanwhile, I retained a new attorney, and within two weeks, my case was both dismissed and expunged exactly what John said he would handle. This unnecessary delay not only cost me time and money, but also caused significant personal and professional harm, including damage to my reputation and legal standing in unrelated matters.
John Marshall’s firm charged me $5,000 upfront, and it became increasingly clear that cases are prolonged to justify that fee. I was left in the dark, misinformed, and ultimately dismissed by John himself when I asked for clarity. The firm’s priority appears to be revenue not results. In fact, according to a comment made by someone within John's own professional circle, these high retainers help fund his lifestyle, including maintaining a lavish image and personal expenses.
This firm preys on people in vulnerable legal situations who may not fully understand the process. Ethical attorneys take the time to educate and support their clients this is not one of those firms. The focus here is money, not advocacy or outcomes.
I strongly urge anyone considering this firm to look elsewhere. My experience was not only disappointing …it was harmful.

Finding Jonathan Marshall Law Firm was truly a blessing. I had a great experience working with Nelly (the Paralegal), Jonathan Marshall himself, and Jason Sidman, who handled my case with complete dedication and professionalism. From the very beginning, they made me feel confident that my case was in the right hands.
Nelly was extremely supportive and responsive throughout the entire process, always keeping me informed. Jonathan Marshall took the time to understand my situation and provided clear guidance and reassurance. Jason Sidman and Robert Grady worked very hard on my case, showing outstanding expertise, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to achieving the best possible outcome.
They all worked together as a team with the highest level of professionalism and care. Choosing Marshall Law Firm was truly one of the best decisions I’ve made, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in New Jersey seeking experienced and trustworthy legal representation. I am sincerely thankful for their hard work and support.

Title: My Honest Warning – The Wrong Law Firm for Me
I am sharing my real experience with The Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall, located at 82 Court Street, Freehold, NJ 07728, so nobody else makes the same mistake I did.
Almost two years ago, a friend recommended this firm to help me with a court case. I trusted that advice and paid them, truly believing they would fight for me. From the very beginning, they promised they knew “a lot of people” in the East Brunswick courthouse and said they could help me win. Those promises turned out to be false.
My case was assigned to Abraham N. Basch. The first court appearance was on Zoom. I had to borrow a laptop to attend, but the audio didn’t work properly, so I couldn’t hear the judge. Mr. Basch was also on Zoom. Before the hearing ended, he told me not to worry and promised that he would personally show up for my second court date in person to help me.
When the day of the second hearing came, no one from the firm contacted me. I went to court expecting Mr. Basch to be there, as he had promised. Instead, without any warning or explanation, he sent someone else — a very young and inexperienced person who knew nothing about my case. I don’t remember the second lawyer’s name, otherwise I would include it here — because I speak truth from experience.
This replacement attorney did not speak for me at all. I ended up having to do all the talking myself, with no preparation or legal guidance. The judge ruled against me, and I lost my case.
That loss has destroyed my life:
I, my young daughter, and my father (who has dementia) have been living in the street for almost two years.
The court ordered me to do two weeks of summer community service with no safe childcare.
My father sometimes wandered off due to dementia, leaving my daughter unsafe.
My mother passed away during this time, making my situation even more painful.
Through it all, I came to believe that this law firm’s treatment of me was not only neglectful — but also racist. I am writing this review with tears in my eyes, borrowing a phone, because people need to know the truth before they place their trust in them.
Later, other attorneys told me that what happened was unacceptable. This firm did not fight for me, did not communicate, and did not honor their word.
I am telling my story so others do not go through the pain I have lived:
Research any lawyer thoroughly
Get every promise in writing
Confirm who will actually represent you in court
Choosing the wrong lawyer can ruin your life. For me, The Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall — and Abraham N. Basch — were the wrong choice.

Paul Koutouzakis was my attorney and he was absolutely fantastic. He helped me through a very difficult situation involving a hit and run. Paul was able to get both of the tickets that were issued to me which carried points, downgraded to a 'glorified parking ticket' that had 0 points. He knew that the girl who hit me was not 'all there' and Paul waited until I was in my car and out of the parking lot to make sure that I was safe. This was extremely stressful for me but Paul was with me all the way, explained everything to me and made sure that I was happy with the outcome before he agreed to anything with the other lawyer. I hope to never be in this type of situation again however if I need a lawyer for any type of traffic tickets I am definitely calling Paul again! 10 out of 10, I recommend! ;)

I couldn’t recommend the Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall enough! I found myself in a bind and needed legal representation quickly. From the moment I reached out, Alexis was incredibly helpful — she took the time to explain the process, answer all my questions, and make sure I understood what to expect. She guided me through each step and made a stressful situation much easier to handle. I was then connected with an attorney who provided expert advice and clear direction on how to move forward with my case. I truly felt supported and confident throughout the entire experience. Highly recommend this firm to anyone who needs knowledgeable and compassionate legal help!
